Fall is one of my absolute favorite times of year, not just as a photographer but as a mom. The golden light, crunchy leaves, sweater weather, and of course, pumpkin patches. If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the hunt for the best fall destinations to create core memories with your kids (and maybe snap a few Insta-worthy shots too 😉).

Living in Northeast Ohio gives us a front-row seat to some of the most charming and activity-packed pumpkin patches in the Midwest. Whether you’re in it for the corn mazes, tractor rides, or just that crisp autumn air, these farms are worth the trip.

So grab a pumpkin spice latte, throw on your coziest flannel, and let me take you through my top 5 pumpkin patches in Northeast Ohio — family-tested and photographer-approved!

1. Ramsyer Farms – Wooster, OH

This place isn’t just a pumpkin patch, it’s basically fall paradise for kids and families. Ramsyer Farms has become our annual tradition, and we even snag their season passes the first week of August at half-off (pro tip: mark your calendar because this deal is GOLD).

Why We Love It:

  • So many activities: From giant slides that even adults can’t resist to an enormous barn filled with corn, zip lines, tire swings, and more — there’s always something to do.

  • Animal encounters: My kids love feeding the animals, and it’s a great way for little ones to learn and engage.

  • Accessibility for all: Ramsyer offers swings for guests in wheelchairs, sensory-friendly days, and a quiet breastfeeding/changing area, which I deeply appreciate as a mom.

  • Photo ops galore: From the classic pumpkin stacks to the fields of golden corn and rustic farm decor, it’s a dream for fall photography.

This is one of those places that truly has something for everyone. The kind of pumpkin patch you return to year after year and we do, every single fall.

2. Stoney Creek Farm – West Salem, OH

If Ramsyer is the ultimate fall amusement park, Stoney Creek Farm is like stepping back into a simpler, slower-paced autumn  and that’s exactly what makes it magical.

This farm has been part of my life since I was little, and now I get to bring my own kids here. It’s family-owned and operated, and you can feel the heart they put into every corner of the property.

What Makes It Special:

  • The hayride: Their tractor ride takes you through acres of pumpkin fields, where you can hop off and pick your perfect pumpkin right off the vine. Then it brings you back to the front. It’s a fall experience you won’t forget.

  • DIY lunch fun: They provide a fire pit for roasting hot dogs and making s’mores  which adds such a cozy, interactive element to the day.

  • Corn and hay mazes: Great for kids to burn off some energy while you enjoy the fall vibes.

  • Farmstand goodies: Grab some pumpkins, local syrup, and maybe a jug of cider to bring home the taste of fall.

Stoney Creek Farm is all about slowing down and savoring the season. It’s charming, authentic, and full of nostalgia.

3. Patterson Fruit Farm – Chesterland, OH

Just a short drive from Cleveland, Patterson Fruit Farm is a Northeast Ohio staple for all things fall. It’s well-known for its apple picking, but don’t sleep on their Family Fun Fest, which runs through October.

Highlights:

  • Pumpkin patch with a view: Nestled on a hillside, the pumpkin patch gives you a stunning overlook of the fall-colored countryside.

  • Family-friendly play area: Slides, pedal tractors, hay bales for climbing, and corn pits for digging keep the little ones entertained for hours.

  • Delicious bakery and market: Let’s just say their apple fritters and cider donuts are worth the trip alone. Trust me.

  • Photo-ready locations: Between the rolling hills, apple trees, and rustic barns, this spot is perfect for capturing that fall family photo.

Patterson is ideal if you want to spend the day immersed in autumn beauty but stay within easy driving distance of Cleveland.

4. Mapleside Farms – Brunswick, OH

If you’re looking for big fall energy and sweeping views, Mapleside Farms is the place. Perched on a hillside with a massive apple orchard and expansive pumpkin patch, this spot feels like you’re in a Hallmark movie.

Why Families Love It:

  • Theme weekends: They host different themed weekends throughout the season — think superhero day, princess weekend, and even pumpkin-themed events.

  • Pumpkin Village: Explore the mini village made of pumpkins, hay structures, and other fall fun setups.

  • Giant slide & corn maze: These are BIG hits with older kids (and adventurous adults).

  • Apple picking & cider mill: Don’t miss their house-made cider and donuts — perfect for a sweet treat after a long day of play.

It’s the perfect combo of big-time fun and scenic relaxation.

5. Kingsway Pumpkin Farm – Hartville, OH

Another hidden gem in Northeast Ohio, Kingsway Pumpkin Farm brings together family fun and farming tradition in a way that’s both low-key and exciting for kids.

Must-See Features:

  • A giant corn maze (like really giant) that changes themes each year.

  • Pumpkin patch rides: Hop on the wagon and take a relaxing ride out to their impressive selection of pumpkins.

  • Mini zip lines and pedal carts: Great for elementary-aged kiddos with lots of energy.

  • Farm animals: Always a hit with little ones.

They also have plenty of cute setups for family photos — whether you’re a professional photographer or just want some fall pics for the fridge.
