Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most beautiful moments—and capturing it should feel just as special. At Danielle Ashley Photography, I’ve designed the newborn session experience to be effortless, stress-free, and enjoyable for the whole family.

From the moment you book, I’ll walk you through every step. You’ll receive my comprehensive Newborn Session Guide, which includes everything you need to know—from how to prepare for your session to styling tips and what to expect on the day. I'm here to hold your hand through the process, ensuring you're confident and comfortable at every stage.

Everything You Need Is Provided
No need to worry about what to bring. I offer a curated client wardrobe for moms, along with a beautiful selection of newborn outfits, wraps, props, and headbands. Whether you love soft neutrals or a pop of color, I have options to suit your style.

A Relaxing Studio Experience
On session day, you can sit back and relax. Enjoy a cup of coffee and snacks while I gently pose and photograph your baby with care and expertise. You’re also welcome to browse the studio and see samples of the heirloom-quality products available to display your portraits at home.

If toddlers or siblings are joining us, there’s no pressure. I take a calm, patient approach, making the session fun and relaxed for little ones, too. We’ll capture both formal, posed family portraits and candid lifestyle moments—giving you a complete story of this special chapter.

After Your Session
Once your images are ready, you’ll receive a beautifully edited online gallery. From there, you can choose your portrait package at your own pace. I’m always available to help guide you through image selection and product choices, so you end up with artwork you truly love.

2. Schedule Your session

It’s best to schedule your newborn session during your pregnancy, ideally in your second or early third trimester. This ensures availability around your due date and allows us to plan your session with care. Once your baby arrives, we’ll finalize the exact date—typically within the first two weeks when babies are sleepiest and most comfortable being posed. Whether in-home, in-studio, or a Fresh 48 session, early booking guarantees a smooth, relaxed experience tailored to your growing family.

At a newborn session, we take things slow and gentle to keep your baby comfortable and calm. The session usually includes a mix of posed shots, capturing those classic sleepy newborn poses, as well as candid moments with parents and siblings. I work around your baby’s feeding and nap schedule, using soft lighting and cozy props to create a warm, soothing environment. Throughout the session, my goal is to capture the tiny details and tender connections that make this time so special, all while ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for your whole family.

4. Your Portrait Session

After your newborn session, your photos will be carefully edited and delivered through a convenient downloadable website. You can easily view, download, and share your beautiful images from any device. The turnaround time for your gallery is typically 2-3 weeks, ensuring each photo is thoughtfully polished to create timeless memories you’ll cherish forever.

FAqs as a Greater Cleveland Newborn Photographer

Q: when is the best time to photograph my newborn 

A: I am to photograph your baby within the first 7–14 days after birth. This is when they're most sleepy and curled up, which helps create those peaceful, snuggly images you see in my portfolio. I recommend booking during your second trimester to ensure availability.

Q: What if my baby arrives early or late?

A: No worries at all—I only take a limited number of sessions each month to allow for flexibility. Once your baby arrives, just let me know and we’ll finalize the perfect session date.

Q: Do you provide props, wraps, or outfits?

A: Yes! I have a beautiful collection of high-quality wraps, headbands, bonnets, and props available in-studio. Everything is styled and sanitized with care. You don’t need to bring anything unless there’s a special item you'd love to include. For families who prefer a more natural or documentary style, I also offer Fresh 48 sessions (captured in the hospital within the first 48 hours) and in-home lifestyle sessions, where we focus on authentic moments with your new baby in the comfort of your own space. These sessions are simple, cozy, and filled with connection—no props needed, just your love and the beauty of everyday life.
